About the Program
What Is the Gap Year Program?
During a gap-year or years, our pre-health professions students join our clinical team working alongside healthcare providers (MDs and PAs) and Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs). They receive competitive pay and benefits similar to Certified Medical Assistants. No certification is needed, as long as they have achieved (or are about to achieve) a Bachelor’s degree. Prior medical experience is beneficial but not a requirement. On-the-job training under other Medical Assistants and our health care providers will be provided.
This program is designed for college students/graduates who are applying or awaiting acceptance into medical school, physician assistant school, or nursing/NP school. Formatted to provide valuable work experience, competitive pay, and mentorship/expert advice from physicians and or physician assistants. It is also suited for someone who is undecided about entering medicine and would like exposure to the different types of health professionals.
Past graduates of our gap-years have moved forward to enter their field of choice, such as Medical Doctors (MDs), Physician Assistants (PAs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Nurses. These schools include Johns Hopkins, Stanford University, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Midwestern University.
- Eligibility: Undergraduate students or graduates pursuing a medical career
- Duration: At minimum 1 year
- Deadline: Rolling admission
- Suggested Start Date: June 1st, alternate start dates can be accommodated
