About Dr. Ramin Fathi


Dr. Ramin Fathi is the founder and director of Phoenix Surgical Dermatology Group, where he set out to provide world-class dermatologic care to the people of Arizona. His vision is simple but uncompromising: cutting-edge medicine delivered by a team dedicated to excellence, compassion, and a welcoming patient experience.


Dr. Fathi is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon with over a decade of specialized surgical experience in skin cancer treatment. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 15,000 Mohs surgery cases, providing advanced care for patients with skin cancer and other complex dermatologic conditions.

 

Education and Medical Training


Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Fathi graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in accounting before earning his medical degree at Rush Medical College, where he graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.


He completed his transitional year internship at the Colorado Health Foundation in Denver, Colorado, followed by dermatology residency at the University of Colorado Denver, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for excellence in clinical care, leadership, and service.


Dr. Fathi then completed an intensive fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he received advanced training in skin cancer surgery and complex reconstruction. While there, he was honored with the Resident Teaching Award for his commitment to educating future physicians.


Leadership in Dermatologic Surgery


Today, Dr. Fathi is recognized nationally as a leader in dermatologic surgery. He serves as the Scientific Program Chair for the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) 2025 Annual Meeting and is a frequent invited speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and ACMS annual meetings.
